The Karen Blixen Experience
Dream, Live, Love Africa

Whether you like the magnificence of our pristine wilderness, the vibrancy of African traditions the golden glow on the Equator or simply want to feel alive again – we have it all!

Karen Blixen Camp is located on the riverside in the exclusive and wildlife-rich Mara North Conservancy, which is also home to the renown “Leopard Gorge.” The camp is famous for its focus on environmental and social initiatives and guests are encouraged to take part in and eco walk during their stay. The Mara North Conservancy is famous for its 5 pride of lions (amounting to over 56 family members), 7 cheetahs and at least 6 leopards which feature in the wildlife documentaries of the BBC Big Cat Diaries and the National Geographic and Discovery Channels. This makes the area a very rewarding big cat destination, whatever the season.

Being located in the private Mara North Conservancy, which boarders the Masai Mara National Reserve and forms the vital north-western zone of the legendary Masai Mara Eco-system, enables Karen Blixen camp to offer its guests a far more exclusive, unique and private game-viewing experience. Off the beaten track in open Land Cruisers, and with no more than five vehicles per game sighting, the camp’s game drives provide guests with plenty of close-up vantage points for those highly prized wildlife photos. Activities on offer include off-road and night-time game drives, game walks across the undulated plains and romantic gourmet-style bush meals, none of which are possible in the National Reserve.

Karen Blixen Camp comprises 22 large luxury canvas tents each placed with undisturbed views along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar and the gift shop with internet are set on a raiser wooden deck wand furnished with reproductions of Karen Blixen’s private furniture to fit in with the cozy atmosphere. The beautiful laid swimming pool offers relaxation and even a little exercise between game drives. Our resident masseuse offers a wide range of wellness and beauty treatments. Karen Blixen Camp is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a gin and tonic overlooking the Mara River and the wildlife coming to drink, whilst exchanging stories about the adventures of the day.
